The End of Homestay

Well, it’s finally over. We left our Homestay yesterday morning. After being there 9 weeks it was a little bittersweet to leave… But mostly just sweet. As much as we have enjoyed and learned from our host family, we are ready to be on our own. Our village threw our community based training group a huge going away party; there were dancers and speeches and probably around 200 people in the crowd watching. The six of us had seats of honor and had to introduce ourselves and then sing our national anthem, which was rather terrifying. Then they brought us up one by one and our families presented us with various gifts for our future homes. It was very sweet.

Now we are in Dar es Salaam and we will swear in as official Peace Corps Volunteers on Thursday. Below are some pictures from the past few weeks.
